packard bell easynote mh35 hdd problem
hello, long time since i been here, improved very much, always got amazing help here so here i am again lol
problem is this, my friend has a easynote mh35 laptop that would only connect to internet in local mode only, ive across this problem many times with many friends running vista and normally very simple to solve.
only i was in a rush when i was at my friends house, so i said i take the laptop with me and sort it out later at home, only the problem now is the thing wont boot up atall
it keeps attempting the network boot. so i went into the bios and under Internal HDD it says none
(Internal HDD [None] ) and also in the boot menu (holding f8 during boot) there is no HDD selection, only 2 and 3.. 2 being the optical dvd drive and 3 being the network boot. number 1 (which i presume should be the HDD) isnt there atall
and there is no option for advanced startup option to attempt a safe mode boot, it just gives me option to enter setup ie: bios.
how can this possibly happen?? i simply unplugged the laptop and took it home, i ree booted it several times in my friends house.. i just don't know what to try next
i fear im to blame and will end up having to buy him new laptop
ive tried format it, but it loads windows setup and gets to a certain point and blue screens mentioning to try again and could be caused by not enough disk space, so obviously windows setup isn't even pick-up the hdd
its running windows vista home basic (or at least it used to lol) and i tried formating it using one of my old original xp pro discs just to see if it would detect hdd, and the blue screen it kept giving me makes me assume its not
please help, ive been working on this for so many hours now and its puzzled the hell out of me, i seen the dam thing working fine in his house and just had a simple error of only connecting in local mode. took it home to fix and now it seems the hdd is completly dead.
any advice or tips is always much appreciated, im hoping maybe its a simple fix im overlooking, like some setting in the bios or something, just to note, i never even entered the bios untill it started to attempt network boot, as thats 3rd on boot menu. 1. hdd (missing) 2. optical drive. 3. network boot
thanxx in advance

Sounds to me like the hard drive is disconnected. I would check the power and data cables to make sure that they are connected.

I took it apart and pulled the hdd out and put it all back together and tried booting it again and still keeps on attempting network boot or booting from optical drive if disc is inside.
Still saying internal hdd [none] in bios. But in the boot menu in bios where you can change the boot order, it has a hdd there and I've got it at the top but there is nothing after the hdd. It just says hdd and under it has the optical drive which it says exactly what drive it is and same for the network boot. But has no info on the hdd. Just says hdd.
In the boot menu on boot up when hold f8 while booting, that menu has no hdd option at all. Only gives me options 2 and 3 which are cd boot or network boot.
Is really annoying, cus it was working fine in my friends house but took it home to fix small software problems and install anti mal ware progs and the dam thing hasn't booted since. What else could be causing this to suddenly happen?
