HP Pavilion dv6000 will not bootup
I have a HP pavilion 6000 laptop that will not bootup.
At the time that I purchased the computer. I ordered a System recovery DVD from HP.
The computer is running a Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.
I would like to use this DVD to restore the computer, however I can not get the computer to boot.
The hard drive makes a few sounds and the lights on the computer flicker but the computer will not boot.
I have tried putting the DVD in the DVD drive thinking that the computer might boot from the DVD but have not had any luck.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dan for the information.
After doing a hard reset when I turn the power on the blue lights come on and a slight fan noise can be heard briefly. The dvd drive makes a noise as if the operating system is checking it. The light next to the Caps lock does not come on. The blue lights go off and come back on repeating all of the noises.
I will try to contact HP support and see if they are able to assist.
Thanks again for the help. I will post after contacting HP support.

I finally got the computer to bootup but after a few seconds the screen was filled with lines.
Is this a good indication that the problem may be with the video card and require a motherboard replacement?
