Im using an HP dv6000 series laptop. Its been 2 yrs now. I was using it the other day and all of a sudden things hang up and i get a blue screen mentioning of a memory dump. It then went off all by itself. i restarted the computer and the whole display came in 6 screens - like 6 desktop's on 1 screen.

In the device manager it showed me that my display adpater (nVidia GeForce 8400M GS) had malfunctioned. I did a system restore and things came back to normal. But then soon it crashed again and now its again in 6 screens. I reinstalled the latest NVidida driver but no use. Now i find that the display doesnt even show. Its just a blank screen but with windows loading as i can hear it thru the speakers.
On some days the display works fine. I dont think that the screen is bad. My doubt is the hardware or heatsink.

I tried booting into safe mode but then it gets stuck on crcdisk.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
