    Angry Computer corruption and unreadable.

Hi you all, I have a difficult time with fixing my computer. Everytime I turn on my computer it said.
“The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utiltity.” also when I log on, I try to open my Yahoo, games, firefox, probably everything it said: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application"
The only thing that work is the internet explore. But it wont let me watch videos, playing games... how to fix this problem? PLEASE I REALLY NEEDED HELP. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT OVER A MONTH NOW, AND I CAN'T GET ANY HOMEWORK DONE AT HOME!!!
And also, some of the folders I try to open just open and dissapear or it said "the page failed to load"
PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have been researching almost everyday, but can't find a way to fix it.

    1. Click Start, click Run, type chkdsk /f /r, and then click OK.
    2. At the command prompt, type Y to let the disk scanner run when you restart the computer.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Chkdsk will run.

What "thing" are you referring to?
