My PC just took a dump on me, need help
I have included as much info about my computer that I could think of for you. I am sure that I've missed alot info you need, so Please ask me and I'll get it right to you. Here is the info....I bought my computer new 16 months ago, it is a E-Machine desktop model, we have High-Speed Internet on it, when I purchased it, it already had Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 installed on it. Probably about 6 to 8 months before the final performance, I noticed it gradually getting slower and slower. We ran AVG 9.0 on it with scheduled scans daily. I never opened any mail that I didn't know and I never visited any porn sites or chat rooms either. Then one day I started it up and used it without any issues for about 3 hours and then it just froze up and would not respond to the mouse clicks. I restarted it, it took forever to restart, but when it finally came back on, it got as far as the "Welcome" screen, asked me for my password, but when I typed the password into the box, nothing was happening on the screen. I tried different keyboards and different mice too, but had the same out come every time.I tried over a hundred times to start it in "Safe Mode" but got the same results, and I was never able to get it into "Safe Mode". Since I bought it with Vista already on it, I have no disk and can't afford to buy one either. I am a middle beginner at being computer friendly. But I can follow directions well. I am on a fixed and very low income and would like to try anything I can before I put it in the shop and have to go without groceries for a month to pay for it. Can you think of anything that would help me? Thank you for your time. Sheydon Steele

Hi Sheydon
If you cannot get into safe mode and have no disk you could try doing a Factory Reset.
Doing this will delete any files you have on your PC.
If you have important files you could try a Linux Live CD (any distro will do) to access you
important files and transfer them via a flash drive or external drive.
If you need advice on how to do this post back.
To find how to do a factory reset on a E-Machine got to here : -
