turned on pc and came up system operation not found, tried doing the norm f8 to no avail, in need of a solution

i have a sony v10 pc, when i turned it on it came up with operation system not found. turned pc off took bateery out and replaced, then turned back on pressed f8 and again came up with same comment, in ineed of a solution please
