I use an Epson Perfection 3590 Photo scanner to scan photos and slides into my Toshiba laptop running Vista. When I start the scanner it gives me 7 options for choosing the type of item I will be scanning. They are Photograph, Positive Film, Illustration, Magazine, Newspaper, and Text/Line Art. About the only two I use are Photograph and Positive film. There is a reflective cover in the lid of the scanner that I have to remove to scan slides. I have no problem scanning photos but quite often when I am scanning slides the scanner will jump to the "Photograph" choice and when I click on "document type" to change it back it will show "photogaph" in two places and will not show "Positive Film as an option." Therefore I can not change it back to "Positive Film." Usually I have to shut everything down and restart to get the situation back to normal but sometimes this does not work. Has anyone else ever ran into this problem and what is the correct fix? Thank you.
