    recent bootup problem

For the last few days during boot up, my system reports an error and asks to recover it before it even reaches windows log on. Well today I let it try to recover and it reports that it can't and the problem is due to a patch. unfortnately it doesn't say which.

Has anyone else had this problem and may know more? TIA

    stats:
    hp m8120n
    vista32 premium
    3g ram

We are going to need more information. What exactly does the error say? At what point does it toss up the error. Can you get past the error and complete the boot process, then use Windows normally?

Can you boot into Safe Mode okay?

If the problem just started in the last 2 or 3 days, you might try a System Restore to a point just before it started.

The problem pops up before it gets to windows. If I tell it to ignore it the system will finish booting windows, "usually" and run fine. This last time I told it to try to fix the problem which it rolled back the system to a restore point and said to contact the administrator as the problem was in a patch.

I can't suggest anything without knowing the exact error message.
