    No sound coming from PC

    Hi everyone
I've had my AS Rock PC for about 6/8 months with Windows Vista installed. The sound worked fine with the integral speakers in the screen and then separate speakers.
It has now stopped working on either, first the separate speakers wouldn't work after they were unplugged and used on a laptop before being re-attached to the PC. Then a few days later the integrated screen speakers stopped working.
The separate speakers work fine with a CD player, so they're not at fault, and I've made sure the 'Sound' settings within the Control panel are all turned on and at full volume, as well as the making sure the sound is on and turned up fully on the screen's settings.
The PC makes an initial 'bleep' when switched on but doesn't play the little Vista tune. And I've checked nothing is set to 'mute'.
I don't know what else I can do. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

When I purchased my external Laptop speakers I was told they would not work on PC and never to plug them in to a PC as speakers for both are entirely different. This maybe so in reverse.

Thanks very much for that information. If that has been the case, my nephew will get a ticking off for plugging my speakers into his laptop to we could all get the benefit of his weird music!

A password for your system is a good idea, I realize it would not have helped with this issue, but then a lock on the office door, (or where the computer is situated) maybe the next best thing.

I was in store yesterday, inquired about PC and Laptop speakers and it is a definite no no to swap one with the other.

    best regards,

    hello
is there a little red x on your speaker icon (next to clock)?

I know you said its not on mute, but one time i accidentally hit mute on my keyboard. (pc not laptop)

last but not least: right click the speaker icon and choose:"playback devices" make sure your speakers are set to default!!

best of luck. (for the nephews sake!)

ps iv'e put my pc speakers to my laptop alot of times to watch movies.....

    Hi Friend,

After you install a Windows Vista service pack, you may experience one or more of the following problems with sound:

    * No sound is produced when you play audio files or run programs that have an audio component.
    * The speaker symbol next to the clock in the notification area may display the following message:
No Audio Output Device is installed
    * The Sound Controller in Device Manager displays a yellow exclamation point.
    * The sound quality changes. For example, if you previously had surround sound, you may now have stereo sound.

    Thanks,
    James
