MapleStory, a game I play, apparently does work on Vista, but I just can't figure out how to work it. I've done the Compatibility thing in the properties window, and restarted my computer and everything, but MapleStory always ends itself after about two minutes later.

If I try to run MapleStory without rebooting my computer after setting the Compatibility, a window saying,
"HackShield initilization error: 0x00000004(4)
Error occurs when the game client is executed in the Compatibility Mode provided by Windows XP. Game execution in Compatibility Mode is judged as a user with ill intentions, so program must be ended and restarted. (Value = 0x004)
Please send the detailed information through." comes up.

If I do reboot my computer, a window saying,
"Error code : 10093 (Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup has failed." comes up, and that's it.

Could someone please help me?

According to MS MapleStory System Requirements, it is not supported on Vista (or Windows 7). Some have been successful, however, see How to Run Maplestory on VISTA

Well, I've already tried what it says to do on that page. And apparently, there is no other solution for the problem I've got. Not only that, but I can't figure out a way to fix it myself.

It would appear it all depends on exactly what version of Vista you are using - if you can't get it to work in compatibility mode, then I am afraid you may be out of luck, unless someone else has a trick up their sleeve.

I see... I suppose no one has a solution to getting MapleStory to work on a desktop computer that doesn't have Windows Vista? The whole reason I downloaded the game here was because it didn't work on my other computer.
