    Smile Improper Profile

I can only operate in Safe mode because of the Profile Services failuer. I checked with the Dell computer "knowledge bank' but it gave me instructions not "do able" on my machine. Can you help?
Happy Jesus Birthday and a Happy New Year for you and yours in any event!

In the start menu browse to command prompt under accessories, right click on it and select run as administrator. Confirm the command when you get the uac prompt. Now type in sfc /scannow. Have your Vista disk ready if you have one. Post back with the results.

So that we are on the same page, please tell us what instructions you weren't able to do and the link from which you got them. Also please answer the questions below as applicable.

Praise God for your swift reply to my need.
I have read your protocol, but I have not started it yet. I can only run in SAFE mode. I run a DELL Vostro with Vista already installed. I do have a "Vista" disk supplied by Dell. It contains the warning that the disk is only to be used to reinstall the operating system on a Dell PC. In SAFE mode I do not find command prompt under accesories, but there is an option to use SAFE mode with command prompt (that may eliminate the Internet, I don't know).

    Please advise.

I will gladly try to answer the details ablut my computer if you believe they will be useful. Thank you so much, and have a wonderful evening!

Please tell us what you are referring to and provide us with the link. Also tell us why the instructions are not do able. We need to know what you have done. Also model number would be nice.

Ok click on start menu and type in cmd and when it brings up in commend prompt instead of hitting enter right click on in and select run as administrator and then confirm. Type in sfc /scannow into the black box.

    Thanks fr your help!
Dell Technical Support listed the problem "Cannot log into Microsoft Windows Visa" and refered to: Journal ID 093607PVNC Article ID 331244 Date Published 10/12/2009. 1. Click Control Panel and then click System . 2 Click Advanced system settings on the left. If the USER ACCOUNT CONTROL window appears, click [continue ]. My User Account Control window did not appear and I was given no alternative!

My machine is a Vestro 220 purchased 12/04/08, fresh out of warranty. Over a week ago, my Verizon Security system anti-virus and anti-spyware programs would not load. I called Verizon Tech Support for help, and a courteous gentleman shared my system and assureed me that everything was fine. My systems sti9ll would not load, but everything else was OK. Last week, my Profile System would not load.
My on-board diagnostics could not help so here I am.

Do you have a link for that article because I'm not quite understanding you and I'd like to read exactly what you read. I'll take a stab at it though by saying that perhaps you didn't get a uac prompt because it is disabled. Try the sfc like I instructed and let us know.
