A little while ago I downloaded something, and ended up getting a WMA:Wimad virus detected.
I bealive I got rid off it pretty quickly, but after then web video stopped working (would start to load and then just as it started to play it would freeze the browser, leading me to have to restart the program.
I rolled back to a earlier time and gained my web video back, but lost all sound. I did this a few times, going back to different dates, but no dice.
Where my volume control is is just a red cross, and it states "No Audio Output Device is installed" and there is nothing under "Sound" in the device manager. I tried reinstalling the driver, to no effect, tried scanning for new hardware and nothing.
I finally tried reflashing the BIOS and it worked for about an hour.
I submitted and have just gone without sound until now, as I've noticed that all Media players have stopped playing saved videos (VLC works after a bit of time)
I can't think of anything else to try, so am now thinking of reinstalling Vista, as this installs over a year old, and getting a bit slow. Im looking for a way of keeping all of my files, as some of the things I have installed I don't have the disks for anymore (Ive emigrated halfway across the world you see)
So somehow I can keep everything working, while refreshing Vista. Hope you can help. I did a search for the audio issues, before I posted and didnt find a lot.
Cheers, Serin
