seek failure
Hi, When my system boots I get the message:te drive O seek failure : What do I need to do
-
Is this a new issue?
Your BIOS is looking to find your Floppy drive.
Are you familiar with your BIOS settings?
-
I tried deleting the floppy and it keeps restoring it. yes i am familar with bios
-
by the way i have a dell and vista windows
-
Have you removed the floppy from the boot order?
Is the error "Diskette Drive 0 Seek Failure"?
Does the floppy drive actually work?
-
yes that is what it say. I do not have a floppy. when i went into the bios it wont let me take it out of the first line
-
That error could indicate that the drive has failed.
That would be the importance of testing it's operability.
If you are familiar with working inside the box you could physically disconnect it.
Other than the BIOS error does it cause any other problems?
Also is this a new problem?
-
sometimes the computer just shuts down. I don't have a floppy drive at all.
-
Ah! OK.
What is the exact Dell model please?
I have seen this on Dell computers before.
And please: Is this a new problem? Were things OK yesterday etc.
