Hey D-A-L,
Ive been having this problem suddenly where my computer will freeze while its starting up, and I have to hold down the power button to turn it off. This will happen a random amount of times before it will actually let me to the log in screen. Its pretty annoying having to restart 10 times before I can get on. Is this from a virus or something wrong with my registry or what? How can I fix this? and P.S. ~ Last time I repaired my PC with my reformat CD, It completely damaged the PC and I had to do a full reformat. So I dont know what was up with that. The symptoms indicate a BIOS issue rather than a Windows issue which could be symptomatic of some hardware failure.

If this is a new problem have you tried a System Restore via Safe Mode options?

After you turn on the computer continue to tap F8 until you get an option screen.

Here choose Safe Mode then opt for System Restore and choose a restore point prior to your issues.
