hi, i am having trouble playing desperados 2 (atari) after installation. i have run as administrator and in compatability for xp service pack2. when i click on the icon to play game nothing happens exept for the mouse pointer indicating that it is working for a couple of seconds. any advice would be much appreciated. cheers, john

if you press ctrl+alt+del can you see it running in the list of processes?

it shows up for as long as the mouse pointer shows working and then dissapears?

Try the following , I've used this on a few non vista games and it's mostly been successful . Change the screen resolution and screen refresh rate of your display settings .

Right click the desktop > Click Personalize > Display settings ,

Older games seem to run at higher frequency but lower screen resolution , try a screen refresh rate of 60 hz and a screen resolution of 1024x768 or lower if needs . Then run the shortcut as administrator . Newer monitors will auto adjust to lower settings . I can play games as old as RA2 Yuri's Revenge using this workaround .

Try the Vista patch [make sure I got the game right first]. If that doesn't work you can try to disable UAC. Are your graphic drivers up to date? Do you have problems running any other games? Do you have Vista 32-bit? [how to tell]
