    Vista Screen upside down

Yesterday I was entering data into a Microsoft Works Spreadsheet. My Toshiba laptop operates on a Vista 32-bit system. For some reason my viewscreen made a 180 degree turn and turned upside down. I went to "Edit" to see if there was an "undo" option; there was not. I closed the spreadsheet and the desktop image was also upside down. I shut the computer down, after telling it not to save changes and when I rebooted it, the screen image was still upside down. I did a "systems restore" and everything came back to normal. I have two questions. What did I do that made the image turn upside down, and #2, was there a simpler way to straighten things out without doing the systems restore?
