Sorry about the title. hard to know what to put. When I start Vista, it starts normally but programs timeout when I try to run them. Restarting has no effect. Starting in safe mode does not work asnd I cannot go on line ion safe mode. Secuity centre is switched off in safe mode and will not switch on. Strangely, a couple of starts in safe mode or boot from the windows disc and then a restart gets me going again until the next time I restart. I have run scans in safe mode with avg, adaware, etc. All come up totally clean. Please help me stop hitting my head with a hammer.

The only thing i can think of is that you migth have one to many antivirus programs on your PC.!
Otherwise,if not, ithink you need to format.!
