Question msdsm driver might be incompatible with vista sp 2

Ok so I go to install Vista SP 2 on my Dad's Acer TravelMate 2480-2196 Laptop & I get a warning stating that one or more drivers might be incompatible with SP 2 & it lists MSDSM. I clicked to check for a solution & it says that windows can't find a solution. I am canceling the installation until I can figure this out because my dad is very particular about his computer.

Does anyone know anything about this? All I am finding is that it pertains to the creative sound card. Someone said that on his/her computer that Vista corrected the problem afterwords however the sound was worse. The thing is that he doesn't have creative sound but Realtek while someone else said that it was a video driver issue. Anyway I don't want to install this until I know that there won't be a problem. He currently has SP 1 installed. I tried the install from the download.

    Microsoft

Well it installed without any problems & nothing seems to be messed up so that must have been the issue. Weird. Interesting thing is that I checked for updates after it was done & no new ones so it must not be needed for SP 2. I don't know. I think that it is one that was installed a few days ago. Anyway thanks for your help. You can close this if you want.

This mystery just got a little bit stranger to me. Out of curiosity I just decided to check my Vista installation (with SP 2) to see if that update is on my computer & yes it is. Sometimes Windows & its problems (as well as solutions) baffles me.

This is very classic example how very same OS reacts on two different computers.

Which is why you can't port one install of windows into another computer. Does this make any sense to you?
