Hello again helpful members of DAL,

I recently purchased a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop with vista 64bit, and have immediately encountered an odd problem which I can only hope you clever people here can help me solve.

In short, when listening to music the sound volumes fluctuate, only ever so slightly but more than enough to be annoying... It is like having someone constantly nudging the volume up and down a tad every so often.

I have never had a problem anything like this and wouldn't know where to begin in trying to fix it. The laptop is brand new and drivers are fully up to date.

Any input or ideas on what the problem might be would be most welcome... I have yet to ring any official help lines as they tend to give me headaches, in the past I have found DAL much more informed and useful.

I would fist try a driver update (Studio XPS 1640 drivers) & then I would contact tech support if that doesn't help. If you had that happen immediately then something is probably wrong with it.
