cannot find a windows defender!!

    cannot find a windows defender!!

    hey guys ... i installed vista like 2 weeks ago ... however everything worked fine but i cannot seem to find windows defender ... here is what i already tried :

    1) cannot find icon on taskbar
    2) tried control panel > security > ... but no defender is there ... only internet options and windows updates ...
    3) tried control panel > administrative tools > services > ... no windows defender is there ...
    4) tried search in taskbar ...
    5) i tried downloading it from microsoft but when i try to install it says :
    it says i dont need to install it because windows vista has windows defender ...


    NOTHING ... No windows defender at all ...

    i installed windows vista ultimate...

    It should be running in the background. I do not think there is any user interface.

    Very hard to see but it looks like it is in a scan mode.

    You might be prompted from time to time to scan your computer.

    I am not using Vista but under Windows 7 the Windows Defender is directly listed under Control Panel when you have the Control Panel listed as a Menu.

    windows 7 much better
    but i love the vista taskbar lol ..

    There should be be a link under start menu and under control panel classic view. Personally, I don't like it. I have it totally disabled and I have removed it from the control panel.

    There are ways to do it. I used TweakVI. There is also probably a registry hack. Anyway I don't want it on there because I don't use it. I don't trust it. Have you tried restarting the computer? Are you viewing the control panel in classic mode?
