audio not workin for vista .. ?!?!

alright guys i just upgraded from xp to vista ... having lots of problem .. startin from my internet connection not workin on vista ... but thats not what this topic about ..

i do have a sound card but there is no driver online for it anymore ...

and of course i lost the cd ... so i removed the sound card and was hoping to work on the "built in" audio device ... so it worked normally .. but that was when i had xp ... when i got vista i went to the same site i downloaded the xp driver from and chose the OS as vista ... but there were no audio nor vga drivers there .. but when OS to xp there are ...

does that mean there is no vista audio driver for my motherboard??

by the way its ASUS P5S800-VM ... yeah yeah its old..

The only internal adapter that I have tried on my computer on Vista was a netgear PCI adapter and even with calling their tech support I wasn't able to figure how to get Vista to use it. It worked on XP on the same computer so I knew that the problem hasn't hardware related and it also didn't work after a reinstall of Vista so that left either the drivers or Vista and the technician said that the drivers are good with Vista. A friend of mine told me that Vista hates internal adapters which might just apply to PCI adapters. I ended up getting this one and it works perfectly. I don't know if you can get it any more because it is a deactivated item on newegg. The problem could also be because you did an upgrade instead of a clean install.

First it has to be downloaded and installed. That is done through windows updates. First right click on your desktop. If you can see where it says play dreamscene (like the picture I've attached) then it is installed and ready but it will be grayed out. If it isn't there then open up windows update and look for it under the section for windows ultimate extras. If it also isn't there then it is probably a "hidden" update so click on restore hidden updates, fin it, and tell windows to restore it, select it, and then have windows install it. You will probably have to reboot.

Once you have it installed you can either right click on a file of the supported file types (.mpg, .mpeg, & .wmv) and select set as desktop background or right click on your desktop --> personalize --> desktop background --> browse and then browse to the desired video and select open and then ok. The unsupported file types are automatically filtered out. You can also have windows download some samples through windows ultimate extras. Note that this increase window's resource demands. Your cpu and gpu will be used more heavily and explorer.exe will take up more memory. Also under windows ultimate extras you should see several games and bit locker drive encryption.

So does that mean that you figured it out? It is an interesting feature isn't it? I run it every now and then. I don't know if you noticed but it does add a couple of different ways to display pictures on your desktop and that comes in handy. Unfortunately there are no ultimate extras in windows 7 but a few of them are integrated into Ultimate. I'll kind of miss not having Hold 'Em.

you have windows 7 ? nice.. i thought about gettin that rather than vista ... but my old machine probably wont run it ... not cause of requirments but cause of lack of drivers

by the way ... why does people say that vista is bad and slow ... till now i find vista either same speeed of xp or a little bit faster .. and for me i got vista for its looks and features
