Re: Vista SP2 Video Playback Error
Try booting into safe mode and uninstalling from there.

Unfortunately, I try what you suggested in safe mode, but it still had the same error.
"An error has occured. Not all updates were successfully uninstalled."
EDIT: I will try the VISTA REMOVAL.
EDIT #2: I read it over and over and try to follow the steps but has you said no guarantee. Any other suggestions?

You could try running the manual download.

townsbg, thank you for your help.
I have ask Microsoft to help and like you they have provide help, but however both cannot subdue the results I requested.
I was the only one to be able to fix this problem as I restore the factory defaults from Acer and transfer them into DVDs for factory backups unlike my favorite XP style (where they provided you CDs/DVDs).
No need to worry now as I have solved my own problem with my own procedure.
Here is my overview:
"In all my years, XP will always remain my favorite while Vista is very far behind and yet in the mass compared to Windows 7. My first laptop experience, which is this one, claims to me that desktop are far more superior than laptop and with easier access to backup, mess up, clean-up, and all those uppsy and downsy. However, you may disagree, it is in my opinion that Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or 3 is the best. For Vista, I would stick to Service Pack 1 and if there will be a Pack 3 then installed 2. What are your outputs on this, townsbg? Since you are a decidated member to D-A-L, I would like this topic closed after this replied to this. Thank you."

Reason: Final Conclusion
-
Personally I used to prefer XP but I've basically switched over to Vista full time but I can switch back to XP anytime I want because I have both installed on my system. I haven't had too many problems with it though. I don't see why so many people bash it. I haven't decided yet on 7. Its frustrates me why people hate this, that, or the other just because they have a bad experience. Such people just don't want to change. There are professionals here that use Vista and I'm sure that all of them have installed SP 2.
As for your situation I wouldn't have given up so easily and I wouldn't hold off on installing SP 2 just because it wouldn't install through automatic updates. You should try the download for the manual install I provided you a link to. I've installed XP SP 3 & Vista's services packs on multiple computers using those downloads without any problems. I've actually not tried a service pack update through automatic updates and I don't think that I will considering how huge and complicated they are. I think for service packs it is safer just to download everything you need before you start so you wouldn't have to worry about a random internet disconnection or something else to go wrong.
I agree with you on desktops. They are potentially more powerful and cheaper but laptops do have their uses like for the busy traveler that is working in a far away land a good deal of the time.

Again I'm sorry that you felt that you had to resort to a reinstall but here we leave that as a last resort. I don't think that you should give up on Vista and should give another shot at SP 2.
