    CD-ROM Trouble!

Ok, this is starting to get REAL annoying. On my old computer (and I mean OLD) a Windows 95 the CD-ROMS stopped working. The sound also didn't work so I thought that might be why since some game require a working sound card. Now I got a Windows Vista and I only installed a few games and then a few months later the CD-ROMS stop working like the old computer. However the sound does work. Like for example, when I put in my Roller Coaster Tycoon game in (which is already installed) nothing happens. So when I press "Play Roller Coaster Tycoon" from the shortcut a little window pops up and says says "No disk entered". Please help.

    Hi ,

Are the discs in use clean and free of scratches ? I've had discs that wouldn't read so my usual trick is to dampen some cotton wool and wipe the discs in a circular motion then dry using a dry piece of cotton wool .

Is it the same cd-rom as the old machine ? Have you tried burn testing a disc in the cd-rom ?

Other than that a brand new dvd / rw aren't particularly expensive , £15 would buy a decentish dvd r/w .

In cd r/w's the lasers can become misaligned or even cease to function over a period of time .
