Hi there, I have installed the latest flashplayer on my son's compaq laptop, it goes through the motions of installing and then it says that it is successful when you see the picture, only we don't see the picture. I can see it has been installed in the programme file but it appears that something is blocking it. Any ideas? We have Avast on the laptop.

I had this problem on my IBM Thinkpad - many websites required the installation or upgrade of flash player to view full content - I've used Avast quite extensively as an AV and that doesn't " block " flash content . Try a manual install from Adobe's website :

Adobe - Adobe Flash Player

This worked perfectly on my laptop with no problems since . I used this solution both with IE8 and Firefox .

Hi thanks for that - I've sorted it out now ... it was being disabled in the Add On's bit.
