problems with wireless driver, and startup. HELP
alright so i know a little bit about computers but right now i am having some troubles.
1. one day i turned on my computer (at the time i was using wireless), log in and click on my mozilla icon, but even though my wireless was working for everyone else in my house, and had just worked the day before, now it did not. i think tthat all i need to do is re install a wireless driver, but i dont know where to find one.
2. it takes my computer multiple times to turn on. i will turn it on, the screen illuminates but remains black, and my mouse turns on (it glows red), but it never goes to the log in page, no matter how long i wait. so i turn it off and turn it back on. sometimes this works and sometimes i have to keep doing this up to eight times.
3. another issue i am having with startup is sometimes it starts up normally but instead of going to the log in page it displays a white on black monochrome message that read "operating system not found" but i often turn it off, and back on again and it works normal. so obviously i have a working os.
my computer runs fine otherwise. once i get it turned on. and for now i am connected directly to our wireless router.
if you need any more information about my computer like make, model, and stuff like that feel free to ask.

never mind to the internet problem. i figured that out using radarsync, which i found here on DAL. however i still have the question about startup. please help if you can.

Is this a new problem?
If so: any new hardware or software?
Is Windows Update up to date?
What is the make and model of the computer?
...
One thing you can try: run check disk.
Press the Windows key + R then type: cmd then chkdsk /r
You will be told the volume is in use do you want to run chkdsk at reboot? Type Y and reboot.

i have had the computer for almost two years now (in about a month or so it will be two years) it is an HP pavilion TX 1000. the start up problem has been occurring for at least 8 months. i think the first time it happened was when i bought a new mouse, but i highly doubt that the mouse was a cause of it.
i'm pretty sure that window update is up to date. ill try the check disk thing you mentioned.

even though i am the only user on my computer when i do the check disk thing it says i do not have sufficient privileges. ill try again but otherwise im not sure what do do.

Right click command prompt and click run as administrator.

nevermind i found it, and i am rebooting my computer now.
