    re-sizing windows

    Hello everyone,
For many months now I haven't been able to get pages on the net to open to full screen size. Every time I go to a new site or open a new window it only opens to about 80% of the total screen width, and I then have to widen it by clicking on the usual full screen icon that appears top right in every window. If the screen is left for 10 or 15 minutes untouched, AOL flags up a normal message box saying it's on standby, and behind the box the topmost window has reduced again to the shorter width. So I click the box to get rid of it and click to widen the page or window again.
So what should I do to ensure all pages fill the full width automatically every time? I can't see anything in the AOL (my ISP), preferences section on screen size adjustment. Or is it a Windows preferences setting? Can't find anything in Windows settings or the Control Panel about this. Op system is Vista.

    Thanks in advance anyone.

    Bill.

Try holding Ctrl down and then resize the window. Then close it. And reopen to see if it worked..

if it's not Ctrl try Alt...

No, neither of those worked. Thanks anyway.

Drag the window to full size then close it and or your browser and it will reopen to the size you closed.

You cannot click the full screen icon but must drag the window to full screen.

Thanks for your answer. I tried it and the size is maintained within the website that I'm viewing. But when I open any new site the window is smaller again.

Try closing all but your home page and drag that out and close it and see if that works for all.

No, still doesn't work. Just re-booted and re-installed AOL software, which is the home page, but it's still the same.

What I normally do, and this works for me, is double-click the title bar (the top bar that runs along the top) in either IE or FF and that maximizes it to full size. I then double-click it again 3 or 4 times...this makes it alternate between unmaximized and maximized. On the last click make sure it is full size then click on "File" then select "exit" or "quit". The next time you open IE or FF should open full size.

There are some programs that will also do the job...
    - Automatically Resize Your Programs - AutoSizer
    - Download Auto Window Manager
