    Computer Freezes at Startup

I cant remember exactly when it started happening. I know i just formatted my hard drive and put Vista on it. Then i also have windows 7 installed (the RC).

It always happens when i first start up my computer, my whole desktop is frozen, i cant click anything. But if i do Ctrl+Alt+Del then for some reason it's then fixed! Completely. Except sometimes it does happen randomly when my computer is just sitting there or if im just using Firefox.

The thing im kind of confused about is this even happens in 7! I have no clue how this could be, what could be causing this?

I know i just added 2GB more RAM to my computer (it's working RAM, just old stuff i took out before). So i am currently mixing RAM and everything seems fine. Somehow i doubt this is the problem because when i Ctrl+Alt+Del it's fixed.

I have tried doing a chkdsk /r and /f and im not too sure if it fixed anything because i didnt watch it the whole time!

I have asked around and someone suggested i try a registry cleaner in safe mode. Im not sure which to use, i already use CCleaner's registry cleaner but that hasnt helped. I do use it quite often...

Im open to any suggestions or questions you may have so feel free to ask!

Edit: I just boot into 7 and it locks up just like in Vista. A Ctrl+Alt+Del fixes it though!
