My music is scratchy on my laptop
I've had this problem since I got it, as far as I know, and it's brand new. I got it early last month. It's a Dell Studio 17 laptop, 4GB RAM.
The music sounds scratchy usually every song I play and it's only through random parts of each song. It's not really a big problem, but it would be nice to get it fixed. I have no clue how to fix it though, so if anyone can help me that would be great. If you need to know anything else just let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Arsonistx...
I had that same problem with my Dell XPS M1710. Are you running the SigmaTel HD Audio for sound? Could you please run the D-A-L Hardware Scan from either my signature or from the banner above then post back the results.
Thanks,

It uses IDT High Definition Audio.
Here's the link I got from the hardware scan:

Hi...
First things first...it sounds, by your first post that you've had your "sound" issue "right out of the box". My sound issue was "right out of the box" also...I've posted a link to another forum that I'm a member of, for you to read through...you will see the issues that myself and another guy went through trying to get the sound to work properly...Now after you read all that...the one thing that I found that worked for me in the beginning, until I found another driver, was that I uninstalled the Dell Sigmatel Audio driver, rebooted, and let Vista install it's own MS Vista sound drivers...
Dell M1710 SigmaTel HD Audio Crackle & Popping!
Since your issue was "right out of the box" you should probably call for Dell Support and get them on it. If you read the thread below you will see that there are others with the Dell Studio 1737 that are having sound issues...I well through the thread and found that there is a couple post that do mention fixes and new drivers...

The thread I posted above does mention a Dell page with all the work arounds on it...I've linked it below...

Ah, I feel like an idiot right now. :P
I installed the latest version of my sound driver.
It's working fine now. Thanks for the help. Hah.
