    The Sims2 Help

    Hi,

I downloaded just the Sims 2 onto my laptop last night and it went fine except everytime I play it eventually freezes up and I have to exit the program. I've downloaded it before and besides the screen glitching every once in a while it ran smoothly. I know my system meets the minimum requirement..any ideas?

    Thanks!

Do you notice any unusual heating?

Just out of curiosity you might see what this scan says:

    Can you run it ..............................................

    Can You RUN It?

I tried the canyourunit.com scan and it gave me a green pass so apparently I shouldn't be having any problems. And my laptop isn't warm at all..the crash usually happens within the first half hour

    Event Viewer
    --------------------------------------------------
Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

Open and access the Vista Event Viewer. First, access the start menu by means of the Windows Vista orb. You must then click on control panel. After the control panel is visible, find and click the administrative tools icon. From here it’s pretty much self explanatory – click Event Viewer.

If you can recreate the problem and note the time then check back in the viewer for marks that coincide.

Or if you happen to remember the last time this problem occurred do you see any marks at that time?

Either way post both the Event ID & the Source.

If there is only a description then post that.

alright there were a bunch all around the same time:

    1.ID:10010
    sourceistributedCOM
    2.ID:7000
    source:Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider
    3. There were three more the same as Number 2.

    in application:
    1.ID:4621
    source:EventSystem

Unfortunately not much to go on. Those are basically benign. I would guess that was a boot up time as they relate to certain services not starting.

If you think that was a game time please correct me.

If the problem persists please note the time and check back in your viewer.

That being said a freeze is usually: heat; bad driver; bad hardware.

You say heat is not a problem?

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics device?

What is the make and model of this laptop?

Do you have any other problems? (with the computer )

When you say it freezes: can you get back to windows or do you need to power off?

What else is running in the background?

Do you turn off all other programs?

What about Firewall & Anti Virus? Are they running?
