Ok well I've been backing up my stuff a bit at a time, I figured I'd be able to do the clean install this past weekend, unfortunately something is making my pc freak out. It started on friday, the thing took a good 30-40 minutes to shut down/boot up/restart. I did a system restore, things seemed fine until I shut it down for the night. The next day, same problem, would take forever to boot up. Today was the worst, took over an hour to be usable.
What happens is, it takes 20-30 to shut down, and then 20 min or so to get to the login screen and then desktop. A few things only, load and the cpu light stops flashing. My task manager says only 13% or so of the cpu is being used and 35% of my ram. Its slow trying to do anything from that point, 15 minutes later more of my startup programs load, like my g15 manager, firewall and finger print software. However, things are still slow doing anything. 10 minutes or so after, my schools internet software and fraps open up, and 10 or so after that the computer is actually usable although just a bit slow.
I've tried system restore, from just a few days ago, to a week and a half ago. Nothing helps. There are still a few things that I need to move from my computer to a hard drive but I don't know how the hell I'm going to be able to do that. It takes about 10 minutes to transfer 300mb from one folder to my desktop.
Any ideas on what the hell is wrong?

I would send it back.
Your problems indicate a sever hardware problem especially if you reinstalled Vista to factory condition.
You have a warranty. Use it.
Sounds like you got a bad piece of hardware there.
I don't know what their warranty involves but I would demand a brand new laptop.

Sorry if I replied a bit to briefly earlier having missed the backup issue.
I don't know how to help there.
You could put the drive in another computer but then you are dealing with warranty voids etc.
It might be best to get what you can then just return it.
In the future please backup your important data to external media.
