    flash player freezing browsers

i recently got a new pc with vista home premium 32bit. im SURE that in the first day or two i was able to view flash content or play shockwave games, but since then both flash and shockwave players cause browsers to freeze. i have to go into task manager to turn them off.

iv tried ie, safari, opera, and google chrome and they all have the same problem. on google chrome after a while it said something about shockwave player not executing or something like that.

the only thing i can think that iv done is i updated to ie8 (beta), which kept freezing on normal websites, so i went back to 7. other than that iv tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player (latest), and installing previous versions, but still nothing works.

any suggestions? keep in mind im not the most computer literate person in the world

Did you get the previous versions of flash player from here.

Archived Flash Players available for testing purposes

Another thing, there has been a fake flash player download that installs malware on your computer when you download it.Fake flash player site used to spread malware ? The Register

If you think you have installed a fake one I would suggest you post in Highjack This section of forum here. Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs

If you do post there make sure you follow these instructions first. http://www.d-a-l.com/help/spyware-ad...tructions.html

Don't know how safe it is to do this but it was one solution I read to fixing this kind of problem. Now remember I said I don't know about how safe this fix is. The person stated he went ahead and uninstalled all flash plugins in Firefox browser and uninstalled Flash Player installed in Add/Remove Programs. Then went to Flash Site that he wanted to watch video and clicked on play video. Then when the missing plugin prompt came up he entered install missing plugin. He installed the plugin and everything started working.
