PC shut down
Hello, I have Vista operating system and just lately it shuts down for no apparent reason, it is not on a particular site but happens a lot when I open or close pages. Also I sometimes get firefox closing down and IE as it says they need to shut down. As far as I know my pc is very clean and showing no threats. It is annoying as I can't seem to see why, any ideas?

Hi Katzyin do you anti spyware software on your PC and internet security as well?We just look at the simple things to start with. By the way I am no IT technician I just run a PC with Vista Premium and am a amature like you.

Oh and by the way you have a very adequate PC to run Vista with no trouble, is your video card on board the motherboard or a seperate card.

I run Bullguard anti virus, had for two years and works well with great support online. I run Iobit smart defrag. I use windows advancedcare V2 personal every week. I run ccleaner once a week also. I run malwarebytes about once a month, never any problems there. I use one firewall, that comes with my anti virus that also has anti spyware too. I have a Intel 82945G Express chipset family video card, and would like you to tell me how to find out if it is on the motherboard or not. having a spare place to put a card will still be there is it is on the motherboard as they can't be removed from it.
Yes I am pleased with my PC but like everyone else a few months down the line you want better, it just goes on. I ordered a pc with vista running for the release date as was very excited by what I had read.Have always been pleased with it and have never wanted to go back to XP as many have and still want to. I have sorted out a few mates PC'S on XP and find it so much slower to get round the real issues of operating and problem solving. Now I hear windows 7 is coming and I am desperately trying to ignore it as I am once again quite excited at the thought of getting to know another operating system and new toys that come with it. Vista is bright and I think quite sophisticated, and there is so much more for me to discover within its capabilities. Anyway hope that helps do not care how long it takes and how many avenues we have to travel would just like eventually to get it sortes, it is not always the right time to loose pages and have to wait for so long to get it back up again. Besides it could be a hardware problem that may need sorting, thoug hopefully not! Thank you for your assistance so far, regards Katz.

There is a free anti spyware program called SpyBot S&D I think I would download that update it and then run a scan, it will not interfere with your existing Bull Guard but it will be like a double check to see if Bull Guard has missed anything. From what I have been told that no anti spyware software will catch everything. The other thing you could download is Belarc Advisor again it is a free download, when you run it it will tell you what hardware you have, what Microsoft updates you have , if you have any security updates missing and licence numbers for software and all your software you have installed. The reason I asked if your video card was an on board one is that it shares your RAM with the operating system so if it uses 512mb your OS has access to 1 1/2 GB of ram and not the 2 GB you think you had, Usualy independent video cards have their own memory generaly 512mb but can go up to 1GB in the realy expencive ones

P.S I also use OBit Smart Defrag good bit of kit works better than Vista's own one

Have you done any major changes to your computer just before you started having your problem? By this I'm referring to software changes, windows updates, or hardware changes. Do you have service pack 1 installed? You might want to find a way to test your RAM however I don't know of what to use. Perhaps someone else here will.

You could download System Mechanic you can get a free trial of that on that is a RAM de frag, if you wished to keep using the software I have a legit free licence number.
