Okay, maybe I am glutton for punishment. I bought 3 new computers in a few short months. An HP desktop,and 2 HP laptops all running vista. Talk about fun.

The problem I keep having is the HP printer photosmart C6100 series keeps showing up offline on the laptops. The printer is wireless, as well is the laptops.

The only thing that seems to be in common is this usually happens after vista installs an update. The printer shows as offline and cannot be recovered. Only solution is to search and add another copy of the same printer, same driver used.

I don't know what the problem is, and I don't use wireless unless forced to, but I usually like to assign a static IP to networked printers - it seems to eliminate problems similar to yours in some networks.
