    Date/time error on Acer Laptop

    Hi

I have an Acer Aspire laptop and the date/time settings keep reverting to 2007. I have windows vista installed and it can no longer install windows up-dates (error message
80072F8F). I have looked and it appears that the error is linked to the time and date settings. I am also being warned not to access some secure websites (i.e logging into secure banking) as there are security certificate errors. The Microsoft phishing filter is stating it is unable to check websites as the Microsoft online service is temporarily unavailable. I am guessing these problems are all related.

Approx 3 months ago I had the same problem with the time and date settings. I went in and changed them which then made my Norton 360 internet security think that my subscription had expired and a virus was in the laptop. Following this, I am very reluctant to make any changes as I am a bit of a novice and had to pay to have it fixed before I could use it again!!!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I wasn't sure whether to post this as a hardware problem or a windows problem so apologies if I have chosen incorrectly.

    Thanks
    Adele

    Hi!

How old is this laptop, because after a few years the battery that holds settings including the clock can go flat.. If it's fairly new, then its probably something else :/

If the date is wrong, it can make your system think that the certificates on secure sites are expired, or not right..
