    USB slots appearing in Exploer

    Hi All,

Can some one tell me how I can remove the USB slots from my Explorer?

i.e. I only want to see them if they are in use.

    See attachment showing my Explore.

    Vista 32bit SP1

    Thanks

That's good to know, but let's make sure this thread is for one computer only.

Is, or was there ever, a card reader installed? This includes internal devices?

Right click on My Computer > Manage > Disk Management - what do you see?

Correct I asked HP and got the same answer. Never seen this before.

    from HP,

Please be informed that it is common that USB drive/Removable storage drive shown in Windows explorer even when nothing plugged in. This is because your PC is pre-installed with 15-in-1 memory card reader. This memory card reader may shown as G drive in the Windows explorer. You cannot remove this drive as memory card reader is pre-installed in the PC and Windows installs the drive letter by default.

    Thanks

Well, if brand new out of the box, I would call HP tech support and ask them. Still, if brand new, then I would suspect they have some reader connected to an internal port or something along those lines.
