Hi the_tobzster and Welcome to D-A-L.
    CPU Info: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz
    CPU Speed: 339.0 MHz
This seems more of a problem now to me than RAM - you already have 1Gb of RAM, so that is typically considered a decent amount for NT or XP. But your CPU seems to be toggled down in speed, a lot. This can be due to a setting that is wrong, or it could be because your laptop is running hot for some reason and the CPU toggled down for self-preservation.

How about running CPUz and letting us know what it says under the Clocks section.

Hey thnx very much for the reply! I was wondering if no-one would reply.
It says under the clocks section :
    core speed: 1463.2 Mhz
    multiplyer: x 11.0
    bus speed: 133.0 Mhz
    rated FSB: 532.1 Mhz

Is this not supposed to be like this?!
    thnx for any replys!

You must have patience - hard when you want help, but not everyone is in the same time zone.

Your settings are correct according the CPUz - noting that 133 x 4 = 533 (so you are close enough). But the 339MHz in your first listing was either wrong, or right at the time.

Note that system crashing is not a symptom of low amounts of RAM.

First, is the system rebooting? When you say crash, what happens? What are you doing? Can you make it happen? Have you scanned for malware?

Haha lol I know but sometimes people never reply. Only the nice people like yourself.
But the thing is it only happens on sims 2 on nothing else and when it does crash/freeze i can just press ctrl-alt-delete and end it via procesess works just fine. But about the ram? Ram isnt that much of an expense to buy its just I was wondering how much it would cost to install it (as it were) into my laptop.
Thnx very much for the reply's!

RAM is pretty cheap these days. You can look on the HP site for recommended RAM, or these popular RAM makers have auto-scanning and/or manual entry RAM wizards to help you determine compatible RAM. For manual entry, enter/select the PC or motherboard make and model number and the wizard will list compatible RAM.
    Crucial - Memory Advisor
Corsair - Memory Configurator (manual data entry only)
GeIL - Memory Configurator (manual data entry only)
Kingston - Memory Search (manual data entry only)
    Mushkin - Advisor
OCZ - Memory Configurator (manual data entry only)
Patriot - Memory Search (manual data entry only)
PNY - Memory Configurator (manual data entry only)
SuperTalent - Memory Finder (manual data entry only)
The following retailers have auto-scanners and manual wizards. They sell brand name and/or "house" brand (re-branded) RAM.
Newegg - Memory Configurator System Tool
    MemoryStock - Upgrade Configurator
    18004Memory - Configurator

Hey there. Thnx very much for the info I think I know exactly what ram to get now. But the only thing is that I live in U.K and I was wondering if you knew an estimate of how much it would cost to get it installed into my laptop.
    Thnx very much!

No, I don't but many of the regulars and staff here are from the UK so perhaps they will join in. However, replacing or adding RAM is not technically hard so labor charges should be minimal - call around and ask - most shops have a flat rate for upgrading RAM. That said, because it is not hard, adding RAM is generally covered in owners manuals for most notebooks. I recommend you check that out - you might see that you can do it yourself and save a few quid. If you don't have your manual, you can download the latest from HP/Compaq Support & Drivers.

I liked HP better 20 - 30 years ago when they were a noted electronics test equipment manufacturer. But one thing they do now is create great tutorials, like Memory Specifications and Upgrading RAM - a great "how-to" on upgrading RAM in a notebook.

If you do decide to take it to a qualified technician, and there's nothing wrong with that, then I recommend you have them pop open the case and do a thorough cleaning too. Heat is the bane of all electronics, and dust makes a great insulating blanket. Sadly, and IMO mistakenly, notebook makers do not design notebooks to allow for essential cleaning by the end-users. That's not good - and another reason I prefer PCs.

Hey dude thnx for the info. I had no idea it was that easy to change ram! I thought you had to open up the whole laptop n stuff. Anyway i was wondering since i already have 1gb ram doees that mean that I only need another 1gb ram to make it 2gb or will I have to buy 2gb. Thnk you, your a life saver!

That depends on how your current RAM is configured and the number of memory slots your computer has. You might only have two slots filled with 2 x 512Mb RAM modules and in that case, you would have to toss both and insert 2 x 1Gb.
