Hi this is my first post. I would really appreciate some help.
I am reasonably new to computing so please excuse me if I don't put my point across accurately.
My computer is an Advent laptop with Vista home premium (32), an "Intel Celeron(R) M CPU 430@1.73GHz. 1014MB RAM.
I use a Huwaei USB modem to connect to the Internet, and up until recently I have had no problems connecting, but now for some reason I keep getting disonnected after a short period if I get connected at all..
The problem seems to be my network adapter- Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Whenever I diagnose the connection I am told to "Plug a cable into Local Area Network Adapter......" I have never had a cable plugged into the network adapter from my knowledge.
I have tried various things to resolve this:-
Enabling/Disabling the device.
Uninstalling the Device.
Unconnecting all devices (modem, external hard drive etc...)
And, even as a last resort I totally reinstalled the operating system.
All to no avail.
Is there something I haven't tried? Is there a cable loose inside the laptop? Or is the network adapter broken. Also why do I need the network adapter if I use a USB modem?
I hope you can help me resolve this issue, as I am running out of hair to pull out.
Thank you in advance.
