    Unhappy Wondering USB ports

I have a problem that I cannot figure out. Intel P4 3MHz dual, 2gig memory, Intel D102GGC2 motherboard, Vista Ultimate. Upon reboot of the box, the computer does not recognize the mouse and sometimes the keyboard plugged into the rear USB ports. It has no problem with the front ports (I have a thumb drive plugged in for readyboost). If I unhook the mouse and then plug it back in, most of the time, it will install the mouse and work. Sometimes, I just have to cold boot it several times. I know that the mouse or keyboard is not causing the problem. I had the thumb drive plugged in and at time, it would not work and required the uninstall and reinstall to work. Any ideas?

    Hey Paul!

Just to make it clear: mouse and keyboard is acting up only if plugged into the rear USB? If they are plugged into the front USB does it always work flawlessly?

    Thanks!

Yes, no problem at all with the front two ports. It is like the rear just shuts down or turns off. If I remove the mouse, wait a few seconds, then plug it in, sometimes it will spring to life, other times, I have to do a complete shutdown, sometimes twice, still unpluging the mouse.

Oh, for the days of DOS and fighting with mouse drivers. LOL
