Power Scheme Swapping
Is it possible for something to automatically change my Power Scheme to High Performance when plugged in, and to Power Saver when on batteries?
[Windows Vista Ultimate x86]

As you are probably aware, each Vista power scheme changes the values of various fixed variables (such as Time to turn off Hard Drive, Brightness of Display, USB suspending, etc) to settings predetermined by Microsoft.
Instead of switching between these predetermined Microsoft settings, the best way is to essentially create your own profile.
Go to Control Panel > Power Options. On the left click Create a power plan. Name your Power Plan and click Next. On the next screen you will be presented with basic power management settings for on battery and plugging in. You can edit these if you wish, but the Advanced Settings provide many more options. Click Create when your ready. Once the profile is created you can edit the Advanced Settings. Click Change Plan Settings under your Custom Plan name and then click Change Advanced Power Settings on the next screen. Here you can completely customise the plan.
When the laptop is plugged in, you could set all options in the Advanced Power Settings to disabled to prevent hibernation and suspension of devices and then set specific time out values for when operating on battery. You may wish to look at the advanced settings of existing plans to get some ideas about what the typical default values are.

I see. Ok, I'll try that, thanks.
