    Issues every since SP1 install

I wish I could give more details other then the few I have. It seems ever since I installed Service Pack 1 my laptop randomly shuts down with a quick flash of the "Blue Screen of Death" unfortunately not enough time to grab any errors. Then it reboots giving me the option to start in "Safe Mode"

It seems, (I could be wrong here) that it happens when I am sending a large file via email or bufffering a video.

I guess I am just trying to see if anyone either has advice or is experiencing the same issue.

Laptop: HP Pavilion dv6436 Vista Home Premium

I am guessing here but maybe that your laptop is not capable of running, SP1 Vista is a big download and many laptops were sold when Vista first came out were realy not man enough for the job. Could you please let us know what the CPU is and how much RAM it has, That would help.

You could try the debugging tools as seen in this post:

    http://www.d-a-l.com/help/showthread.php?t=50190

In general I would suggest removing SP1.

Then go to HP and get all updated drivers for starters.

    Could be the graphics drivers.

SP1 has many driver conflicts at this point in time.

First off your drivers are here:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...39474&lang=en&

Remove SP1 via Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs

Make sure you have "Show Updates" clicked so it shows up.

Back home again. Ok, so remove SP1, then update drivers. Do you think after I do that I should try SP1 again, or keep running without it.

I downloaded and installed the debugging tools but never used this b4 what do I do know. Is it working in the shadows, do I have to run something?

All the drivers were 2007 so there might not be anything to update.

I would remove SP1 and see if the problem is resolved.

If so I would not reinstall SP1 until either Microsoft or HP issues some new updates.

SP1 has caused driver issues for many people.

The other approach is to install and run the debug tools if you want to try and pinpoint the driver in question.

    1) Download and install the

    Debugging Tools from Microsoft

All you need do is download and install this. Make no attempt to start or run it.

    2) Download and install this

    debugwiz

This is a DOS based batch file that will command the above Microsoft Tools.

    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.

    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document post it back to your thread.

Please do not attach it or post in [code]: just plain text: thanks.
