On applying an image with a link and on a mouse over seeing the text of the name of the website everyone can see the correct text but I can't.
When I mouse over an image link the text that shows up is Shift+R improves the quality of this image etc, etc.
This is the code that I use.
<a href="http://gethelp.yuku.com"><img title="Gethelp" src="http://www.ezboard.com/image/_1template/nav_comm_help.gif" alt="Gethelp" height="20" width="20"></a>
Now on a mouse over I should see "Gethelp" I don't.
In both IE7 and FF I get the message above yet everyone else can see "Gethelp".
Any ideas please??
I suspect this is the same issue as your "compressed" thumbnails.
Something along these lines:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...84398&SiteID=1Apparently, you are experiencing "image recompression" through your service provider. When you connect over a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) such as Sprint or Vodafone Mobile Connect, the images are downgraded to reduce the amount of data that is transmitted. The ISP modifies every HTTP request to inject javascript that produces the tooltip you describe.
You should be able to turn off compression with the Vodafone Mobile Connect tool.
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately the thread you directed me to does not have a cure for my particular UMTS which is T-Mobile.
I will keep my eye on that thread though to see if someone comes up with an answer.
Thank you.
Perhaps contact T-Mobile or explore their Control Option Tools if there are any.
I have come back to let you know that I have actually found the solution myself.
I have just been trying things out for myself because I wasn't going to accept this business of not being able to see the images properly because of my mobile device for web connection.
The result was
Update Java
Clean out cache/cookies on all browsers
Then from then on one has to do a hard refresh on each and every page that one has viewed bad images on which includes on being able to see the text on a scroll over of an image.
Such a simple solution and this cured both of my problems.
Thank you so much for your help.
Thanks for the update.
Let us know if we can help further in the future.
Well, it seems I was right and wrong.
Yes it works each time I hard refresh a page but each time I go back to that page, any page, I have to hard refresh again. Next time I visit, hard refresh again and so it goes on.
This not being able to see thumbnails and also getting a shift+R etc has only recently been happening for a couple of months so it just can't be my mobile device. It also can't be my mobile device if on a hard refresh I get perfect images etc.
I can only think it must be something to do with my cache.
To make sure of everything I have done a thorough clean out of this whole machine. I have just stopped short of putting it back to factory settings, lol.
Someone mentioned drivers to me and updating those??? But I wouldn't know how to go about looking to see if they needed up dating or if they did how to do it.
But I am a total innocent when it comes to finding anything on my own comp so any instructions would have to be given as if for an idiot I'm afraid.
Please, do you have any further advice for me.
I, myself, do not see how it would be a driver issue.
However you can update drivers via the Device Manager:
Device Manager provides a graphical view of the hardware that is currently installed on the computer. The device drivers and resources associated with that hardware are listed in the properties window of each device. You can open Device Manager by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and clicking the Device Manager button from the Hardware tab.
The best source for drivers is the computer manufacturers web site.
What is the make and model of the computer?
I still suspect your ISP and would contact them. Their service and you reception thereof is subject to many variables. Perhaps they recently started compression. If not they should be able to tell you one way or the other.
It is very possible they have a signal that requires a hard refresh to uncompress.
Other things to consider are any changes you made that coincided with this issues inception.
Any new hardware or software? Do you have all Windows Updates? Did you load SP1?
Just another thought is to hook up this computer to a land line Ethernet and see if the issue remains.
