sqlwriter.exe is used for backup and restore applications to operate in the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) framework.
Do you have other backup software running?
Are you intentionally running a backup?
You could try disabling this service to see if any issues persist.
-
I don't think I have any backup software running (not that I know of)
and I have not installed any third party backup software, and am also not intentionally running any backup.
-
See if disabling the Volume Shadow Copy Service removes the problem.
By default it is set to Manual.
-
OK, I've disabled that. But I googled it (coz I did not know how to do it
) and it tells me that it is used for creating auto restore points.
Is there any other way to stop this crashing and abrupt restarts? i.e. if this is the problem.
I will confirm in a day or two if the computer has stopped crashing and restarting, thus pinpointing the problem.
Thanks for the help buddy.

Well the troubleshooting idea was to see if we can pinpoint the cause.
If we can assume VSS is triggering the error we can delve further into how to fix it.
I do see some other people with your exact error but as of yet I have found no specific resolution.
Let us know if the error still occurs or if not.

No Jephree :-( :-(
It still hangs it restarted my vista just now.....

What are you doing when this happens?
That error is a server error. Are you running a server? Are you accessing a server?
Is this a new problem? If so any new hardware or software? New drivers? Did you load SP1?
