When trying to play internet games,(crosswords,solitaire,etc) <i get a message that my computer does not support Java applets or is not enabled in browser.I have been playing these games for more than a year,now all of a sudden it won't let me access .I've tried reinstalling java,and the control panel shows it is there,but it still doesn't work.HELP !!!!

What does this site say: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

It tells me that java version 6,update 5 is installed.If this is so,why do the sites tell me different?
