I do not seem to be able to run many updates on my computer.

I start with Windows Defender telling me to check for new definitions - which I do.

I get a notice that Windows defender is checking for updates and then I get a notice telling me that Windows Defender can't check for updates.

After looking at the troubleshooter I opend the list of installed updates and found that the vast majority had failed.

When I try to download updates I just get the update window saying that it is downloading updates but nothing ever happens i.e 0KB and 0% forever!

I have installed COMODO firewall is this causing a problem? - I have tried turning Windows Firewall on and off but this doesn't seem to make any difference.

I checked my update history and the last successful update was KB943899 on the 2nd Feb since then there have ben 24 failed updates.

I notice that originally most were installed successfully (7th December 2007 when I first had the machine) but that the failed rate steadily increases.

My machine is an Intel Core 2 Duo T7800 @ 2.6GHz, 4 MB RAM 32-bit.

Everything works OK except that it will not update. My latest Wndows Definition Version is 1.24.5865.0 created on the 24/01/2008.

Id say Comodo could possibly be blocking it.

I remember when i had Zonealarm a while back it blocked everything!
