I tried to restore my computer to a previous point, and when it restarted, the only thing on the desktop was the recycle bin! I dont care about the music and pics I lost, I just need word and all that stuff back, is there anything I can do? Please help.

Go back to System Restore and choose: Undo Last Restore.

OK, I did that, but it did not help!

The desktop merely contains shortcuts so the programs and data should still be on your computer.

Programs under All Programs. Data/photos under My Documents.

You should also be able to create new shortcuts on the desktop from the programs and or files/folders.
