Hi all.

The other day my wife came in while I was playing a game. So as not to disturb her TV viewing I plugged in my headphones. To my amazement the sound still came from my monitor speakers (as normal) as well as my headphones.

Can someone please enlighten me on how to stop the sound from coming from my monitor when I plug in my headphones.

Try unplugging the monitor sound lead from the computer.

I was under the impression that plugging in the headphones jackplug somehow disconnected the computer audio. As it did with my old computer, saving one the hassle of foraging around at the back of the PC.

If you get the sound icon to display in the system tray it might work where you just pull the sound down to zero when you want to use the headphones (different slider for level of sound). Give it a try as it might work depending on the motherboard layout.

Unplugging the monitor audio has worked. I am now able to use my headphones.
