Missing CD/DVD Rom

Missing CD/DVD Rom
MY daughter has just bought a MESH computer with Windows Vista. I loaded a PC TV program yesterday but it failed due to some compatibility issues with Vista. There was a fix available on the internet but we have no internet connection yet so I uninstalled the software intending to reinstall when internet access gained. I have a CD with all her files from old PC which I opened and tried to copy to the new PC. 1st file was IT Tunes music folder which it didn't like. I decided to leave it to her to copy later. However, when she logs on there and loads the CD nothing happens, there is no CD/DVD Rom showing in My Computer. I thought I resolved the problem using System Restore but the problem has reoccurred.
Anyone with any ideas??

See if it is listed in the Device Manager:
To access the Device Manager in Vista, go to Start | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | System | Device Manager
If so right click the drive and choose Uninstall then restart the computer.
Vista should re-detect it as New Hardware and load the necessary drivers.
