Blue Screen crashes when playing games or watching tv in Vista x64

I have recently switched to vista home premium x64 from xp and whenever i try to run a game or watch tv i get a blue screen crash. Sometimes it happens within 5 mins other times up to two hours after i started. windows error reports say its an ati driver problem but i have tried reinstalling the latest driver, i've even gone so far as to do a clean install of windows with only the graphics driver on and tested it then but still the same thing happens. The only thing ati have suggested to me is that my psu is not good enough but everything worked fine in xp.

Is this a x64 problem and do you think this will rectified in sp1 because i'm considering buying an x86 version of vista but i don't like the prospect of forking out for a brand new o/s when i bought one a month ago. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what i could do?

    My specs are as follows:

    Athlon X2 4800+
    2gb RAM
    500 GB HDD
    ATI HD2600 XT
    VISTA Home Premium x64

There is the chance that ATI are correct and your power supply is not up to it. Vista is very heavy on the graphics with aero etc and this will tax your graphics card which in turn will put more starain on the power supply to support it causing it to overload it. Try turning off all the extras of vista and then run the same game or watch TV and see what happens

I agree with P770. Your power supply cannot support it. If P770 idea does not work then I would buy a new power supply and wait for service pack 1 instead of buying x86 version
