As far as I know Thunderbird uses your ISP e-mail address. In other words it just links to your existing e-mail server.

You can only change this via your ISP.

As this is their main link to you (e-mail address & password) this would be a major change to your account affecting all billing and records etc. Basically recreating your account.

Why do you want to do this?

Hi THank you for your reply. The only reason for change is the way the ISP email address is mostly numbers.
If I knew how to change to a new email address I would!!!.
PS From my question you may be able to tell I am a beginner and a brain dead pensioner.

    Best regards.

You can try contacting your ISP. I really don't know how easy or hard it will be to change it. As noted this is your basic ID as far as they are concerned so it's akin to changing your name.

Also many ISPs allow you multiple addresses. If your ISP allows this you can create new email accounts (new names). I use BellSouth (AT&T) and they allow 5 different accounts to be set up.

You can also use web based email servers such as G-Mail or Yahoo etc.
