I recently bought a new laptop. I did not know that the headset audio plug in is not working. I would contact the manufacturer but my location makes it difficult at the moment. I think the problem is in the driver, but everytime I try to update the driver windows says it doesnt need to. Somehow I think this is wrong, is there a place where you can download the driver for "Microsoft High Definition Audio Device"? I just never heard of it.

You could try Windows Update or else your computer manufacturer's web site.

However if your audio is working OK besides the headset it is more likely another problem.

yes the speaker in the lap top is working fine but the headset plug in isn't, what do you think it could be?

Are you sure that the headset works?

If you play around with the plug like slowly inserting and removing do you hear static?

What is the make and model of the laptop?

It is a cyber power laptop (Im a cheap bastard)
x5-7800, I dont know if that will help I already searched they're website.
